Chemnitzer Morgenpost: IT Expert warns of the demise of medium-sized businesses
c.a.p.e. IT’s service-management software is one of the first open source ITSM applications available for enterprise environments with OpenShift.
Rico Barth, Managing Director of c.a.p.e. IT GmbH, and Holger Koch of DB Systel GmbH will be presenting the first experience report on the joint deployment of KIX in Deutsche Bahn’s OpenShift cloud to the 3rd OpenShift User Meeting. KIX itself is already in use at several DB subsidiaries.
c.a.p.e. IT GmbH’s service software is now also available for the Red Hat® OpenShift PaaS platform and offers distinct advantages for every IT service. The container platform gives users faster access the resources they need, whilst administrators can manage their IT centrally and deploy a scalable and highly available service system without a great deal of effort. OpenShift makes it possible to deploy KIX in seconds with no fuss. “A simple import of the template makes KIX available as a service in the OpenShift catalogue. In this way, each user could easily get an up-to-date KIX in the self-service,” said Holger Koch, pointing out that working groups that have to provide technical services can work much more effectively, especially in enterprise environments.
KIX open source service software is now available for free download from GitHub as an OpenShift template or can be downloaded and tested as a Docker image in the DockerHub.
Rico Barth describes the joint efforts as a beginning, a significant step in the direction of a service design in enterprise environments that allows applications to be made available very quickly yet still appropriately for the target groups.
